Summit Overview 💡
Now in its 13th edition, the Rail Cybersecurity Summit 2027 remains one of the rail sector’s longest-running forums dedicated to railway cybersecurity, operational resilience and the protection of increasingly digital and connected rail environments.
Modern railways are evolving into complex technology ecosystems, increasingly dependent on interconnected software, communications networks, operational technology, rolling stock systems, digital platforms and a growing network of suppliers and technology providers. As rail organisations accelerate digital transformation, the challenge is no longer simply protecting individual systems, but understanding and managing the dependencies, relationships and risks that exist across the wider operational ecosystem.
The 2027 Summit will explore how the railway sector can maintain resilience and accountability in an environment where critical technologies, software, communications and services are increasingly delivered through complex supply chains and external partnerships. Railway organisations remain responsible for safe and resilient operations even where critical systems, software, infrastructure and services are designed, supplied, maintained or controlled by third parties.
As cybersecurity regulation moves from development into implementation, the focus is shifting from understanding requirements to demonstrating resilience in practice. The Summit will examine the practical realities of embedding cybersecurity into railway safety management, procurement, engineering processes and operational decision-making, while addressing the challenges created by software dependencies, supplier ecosystems, vulnerability management, intelligent systems and emerging technologies.
Discussions will explore how rail organisations can build confidence across the connected railway lifecycle — from rolling stock and operational technology to software supply chains, communications networks, digital platforms and emerging intelligent applications — ensuring that innovation continues to support safe, secure and reliable railway operations.
Bringing together rail operators, infrastructure managers, rolling stock manufacturers, OEMs, suppliers, regulators, government stakeholders and cybersecurity leaders, the Summit provides an operator-led forum to examine not simply how railway systems can be protected, but how the industry can understand and manage its growing digital dependencies and continue operating safely when critical technologies, services or suppliers are disrupted.
