Cyber Senate are pleased to announce on November 3rd and 4th Omicron Electronics GMBH will be presenting on Substation Cybersecurity, and also taking part in our CIA versus Reliability and Safety discussion for the 7th annual Industrial Control Cybersecurity Europe show. They have provided us two whitepapers to share with you today, please find below the attached “Cybersecurity and Functional Monitoring for Substations,” and “Detecting cyber intrusions in substation networks How to improve the security of IEC 61850 substations.”

Presenting on the morning of November 3rd is Andreas Klien, Head of Business Development Power Utility Communication. Andreas studied computer science at the Vienna University of Technology, where he also received his master’s degree in computer engineering. Andreas joined OMICRON in Klaus (Austria) in 2005, first as a developer and project manager, later as team lead for IEC 61850 product development. Since 2018, Andreas has been responsible for the Power Utility Communication (PUC) business at OMICRON. His fields of experience are in substation communication (15+ years), SCADA, and power systems cyber security (10+ years).

As a member of the WG10 in TC57 of the IEC he is participating in the development of the IEC 61850 standard series.
