Biography

Darren is a chartered engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Darren has 20 years’ experience of rail vehicle engineering with a primary focus on electrical, electronic and digital systems. He joined the railway as an apprentice for a train operating company in 2005 and also studied part-time to gain Masters Degree in Embedded Digital Systems. He represents GB on International standards drafting groups and committees, develops GB industry standards on a broad range of subjects, such as operational technology, and provides technical support to the rail industry as well as research & development projects.

Biography

James has been the Digital Systems Engineer at Angel Trains since 2021. Starting his career as an Electrical Apprentice maintaining buses, he supported with the introduction of new ticketing systems, WiFi and CCTV systems beginning his personal interest and career with digital systems. Since then, he has gained extensive practical experience of maintaining and operating assets including railway fleets, as well as commercial contracting specializing in electrical and digital systems installation and maintenance. James is now responsible for Operational Technology Cyber Security for Angel Trains, leading the development of OT cyber security culture and delivering a range of exciting projects to enhance performance. He is passionate about training to raise cyber security awareness and share knowledge across the industry. Recently he has collaborated with technology partners and customers to develop a highly innovative VR Simulation Serious Game, bringing OT cyber security threats and good practices to life to support building awareness, competence, and confidence amongst fleet engineers.
